I cannot wait to wear them this coming weekend for my friend’s wedding. This pair of man made eco diamonds are so classic and exquisite looking. I really have my friend to thank for, she gave me this website to check the beautiful diamonds and jewelry. My favorite color is red, the earrings look so “seductive”… lol… and my dress which I am going to wear is a dark maroon shade, complete with my black stockings and my pair of black stockings with a high heel shoes, I cannot wait to show off to my friends! Aren’t I vain? LOL…

For cheap but stylish accessories, my go-to place is LandMark Makati. They have everything from hats and shawls to bags and jewelries. My latest acquisitions from the department store are some jewelry pieces that I got at dirt-cheap prices (all of them under P200).

Accessory Review: Accessorize London

Accessorize London is the latest accessory shop I'm frequenting these days. Why not if it has lots of fancy accessories that are sure to brighten every girl's outfit? I swear this is one shop where you can get nicely-made beaded, gold and silver-plated jewelry, bags in printed and floral patterns, leather belts, fashionable head pieces and a lot more.

So far, I've gotten only a handful of items from this shop and it seems I'd go back again for more. I like that the shop always has a sale (up to 70% off on most occasions), but it isn't store-wide. This means the customers have the freedom to choose between the sale and the regular-priced items, depending on what kind of accessory we're looking for.

As for me, I can only afford to buy from the sale items. Well, except for my first purchase which included a charmed necklace and this ring which I got at its regular price of P450:

Normally, I always end up getting gorgeous items from Accessorize London at rock-bottom prices. Like this "leafy" bracelet which I only got for P114:

So far, there are only two Accessorize shops that I know of: the one in Mall of Asia (MOA) and the one at Robinson Place Ermita. I prefer the latter because it has bigger space and more updated items than the former. But still, you have to check out the stores yourself to better understand what I mean.

There's one thing I could guarantee you, though. The staff of Accessorize London are friendly but never pushy and utterly distracting. They'd just let you choose, pick and try on their products to your heart's desire. Personally, that's the kind of service I want. I think SM sales clerks could learn a thing or two from them. :)

It’s still summer here in Manila and I hate the sweltering heat. It doesn’t help that I don’t have any plans of hitting the beach because my priority right now is my upcoming out-of -country trip to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in October. With healthcare getting more and more importance in our lives, professional medical workers continue to be in high demand as well. Sometimes I imagine myself a nurse and I take care of the sick. I would wear medical scrubs to work and attend to as many patients as I could. I wonder how a fashionable medical worker wears a scrub. If she's a girl, she must be wearing scrubs for women. If he's a boy, maybe some scrub uniforms for men. They might match their medical scrubs with a nice pair of white shoes to look neat and feel comfortable. The girl could wear a nice pair of pearl earrings as accessory and the boy, a good-looking watch. Actually, the possibilities are endless. Just because you work in a hospital or a medical institution doesn't mean you could let go of your sense of fashion. Or so I think.

The Tale of Two Necklaces

If I could pick my two most prized purchases from my impulsive shopping spree at SM Manila with Albie the other night, they would be the two necklaces I got from Trends. I initially got the first one (a necklace with small charms and a dangling pendant) for and upon noticing the dangling pendant in the middle, an idea popped in my head.

I approached the lady that sells metal chains by the inch and ask her for an 18-incher, gold-plated chain with lock. After granting my request, I then asked her to cut the dangling pendant from the first necklace I was buying and attached it to the 18-incher, gold-plated chain. This became my second necklace. The first necklace, on the other hand, became a charmed necklace only, a classic piece if you’ll ask me.

Instead of buying two separate necklaces, I was able to turn my first necklace into two beautiful jewelry pieces. I didn’t just save money by doing this (P430 total price at 50% off), but I also got the style I wanted.

That, my friends, is the tale of my two necklaces.

Signature Bags of 2011

I love bags. At one point in my life, I was able to acquire a dozen bags without knowing about it. I would instantly buy a bag when the design and the style catch my fancy. But I have never really purchased a signature bag yet. I buy local brands, yes. But nothing like those with monograms and owned only by a few number of people.

Bags come in different shapes, styles and designs. The bag industry continues to be a flourishing business, both locally and abroad. I guess the trend on handbags will continue this year. Ooopps, call that my fashion forecast. I particularly adore marc jacobs handbags. They're just too awesome and trendy and classic. Brands that stand out on handbags category, in my opinion, includes marc by marc jacobs, hermes, channel, MK and prada, among others.

We're lucky these days because there are many online shops that could give us the bag and other fashion items we need with just a few clicks of the mouse. And when they come with up to 65% discounts like what I saw over at Bluefly.com a while ago, who wouldn't get tempted?

My Prized Flats

My recent shopping spree with Albie courtesy of her BPI credit card at SM Dept. Store ended up happily. I was able to snatch away two pair of gorgeous shoes (one flats and one pumps), two stylish gold-plated necklaces and more ‘me’ items. Among the two pairs of shoes, I was wowed by the flats. It’s black and has a big metal stud that's shaped like a princess cut of diamond to me.

My flats is from the Parisian line of SM Dept. Store. It's made of synthetic leather. It's priced at P499.75. The first time I saw it, I knew it’s going to be mine. When I tried it on, it won me over. The size 8 pair fit my feet perfectly. It's also comfortable to walk on. (My feet didn't hurt nor develop sores after using it for a few hours this morning.)

Methinks the stud makes this pair a stand-out. I consider it my prized flats. Haha. I also love that it has enough front coverage, the lines in between my foot fingers don’t show like they normally do with ballet flats.

I bought the flats immediately without second thoughts. After all, I really needed one to wear in the office. I hope this pair lasts for months. :)

Luxury Shoes and Where to Get Them Online

Just when I thought the two pairs of shoes I bought from the recent mall sale was enough, I realized I needed more. Yes, it's really true that women cannot limit the number of shoes we have. Doing shoe shopping is one thing and being able to buy the shoes you like is another. The former is therapeutic; the latter is fulfilling.

Speaking of shoe shopping, have you ever tried getting your shoes online? I have bought dresses and accessories online a couple of times, but I have only tried acquiring shoes thru the internet once. It was a pair of black, mid-calf boots from UK that served me quite well.

I love getting shoes for myself. My little shoe dream is to own a pair of luxury shoes someday. It could be a Cole Haan shoes or a Christian louboutin shoes. I saw them at Bluefly.com (an online fashion shop) and I was awed by their sheer beauty. Actually, there are tons of beautiful shoes there in varying styles, sizes and prices. Literally, the shop has something for everyone.

My ultimate obsession, though, is a pair of prada shoes that spells of glamour and elegance. My only problem is my money ain't enough to buy luxury shoes yet. Maybe someday when my job gets more financially-rewarding.

I Need New Shoes

I just realized I need new shoes. On my way to the office this morning, I noticed that my four pairs of office shoes are all worn out. Well, not totally, but I think It’s about time I get some new pairs already. It’s rainy season and there hasn't been a greater need for me to keep my feet warm and protected than now.

Looking for shoes online is a breeze. Not only do I get to see the latest trends in footwear, but also choose the style I want. Right now, I feel like wearing boots in the office. An online friend based in the US said she’s currently crazy about hunter boots and just bought her second pair recently. So, what’s with these hunter wellies? I mean, hunter wellington boots. My friend thinks they’re not just fashionable, but are also very functional. I wonder if we have hunter wellingtons here in Manila. If we have, how much does a pair cost?

As far as I’m concerned, shoes are a basic necessity. And girls should never limit the number of shoes she could possibly own. I really think I need to go on a shoe shopping very soon. To my girl friends out there, any tips where to go?

Beach Escapades and LizzBuenaventura.com's May Giveaway!

I have always loved the beach. Somehow, the sea, the sun and the sand give me a calming effect and lift my spirit. Going to the beach (favorites are Panglao in Bohol and Blue Lagoon in Ilocos!) during summer with family and friends is my top summer activity. This year, I've already went to two beaches (Phi Phi Beach Resort in Morong, Bataan and Blue Lagoon Beach in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte) and will try to squeeze in one more beach escapade before summer ends.

Going to the beach is also my ultimate excuse to pamper my feet. I always try to get myself a foot spa and a pedicure a day before hitting the beach. This way, I get to wear my flip flops and sandals more confidently and of course, prepare my feet for stress associated with traveling. I chanced upon some nice nail polish shades over at LizzBuenaventura.com which are part of the beauty haul she is giving away for her May giveaway. When I saw this beautiful pair of sneakers from Hush Puppies in my mailbox, I just had to write about it. Hand Crafted Rose Necklace by Lizz B.

I'm a fan of my blogger friend Lizz B.'s fabulous hand crafted necklace creations. I really think she's a natural artist. The first time I set my eyes on the rose necklace she was giving away in her blog, I knew I wanted it. But I could only have it if luck was on my side. Fortunately, it was.Just the other week, I got an email from her informing me I won her giveaway which was done through an electronic raffle. My happiness couldn't be contained at that moment. Three days after, the rose necklace arrived via express delivery. It's true that when you think a lot about something, the tendency is you attract it and the thing gravitates towards you.

The necklace I won has a rose pendant with leaves dangling under it. It's silver-plated chain is made unique by the addition of two pearls on one side, just before the part where the pendant is attached.

My rose necklace speaks of pure love. It's something every girl would wish to have. I dunno but that's how I feel about it. I like how it catches the attention of people especially when I'd pair it with a plain top. It's a fashion statement in itself. I'm so lucky to have won it. Now I'm a proud Lizz B. necklace owner.

My rose necklace is gonna be a classic piece of jewelry a few years from now. What do you think? :)

P150 Vintage Tank Dress from our Neighborhood Ukay-Ukay Shop

A few steps from where I live lies an ukay-ukay shop (thrift store) that sells an assortment of cheap, vintage clothes. I have already bought several items from them before, but this is the first time I’m blogging about my ukay-ukay purchase. It’s a purple vintage tank dress which I got for only P150. Talk about bargain hunting/budget shopping.

What made me decide to buy this dress was the unique design of its lower body. You see, the uneven, short stitches (pleats) make it appear like a wide, balloon skirt. When I tried the dress on, I instantly fell in love with the volume made by those artsy pleats. I imagined myself wearing it in the office topped with a white cardigan to make it a bit formal. Or just as it is when I hit the mall with the boyfriend.

I really like this dress. It’s great I found this in our neighborhood ukay-ukay shop before somebody else gets it. Ukay-ukay shops are love. One man’s trash is indeed another man’s treasure.

Oh and, if ever you get to pass thru Nagtahan area, check this ukay-ukay shop on J.P. Laurel St., just in front of Max’s Restaurant. Their vintage dresses sell for P150 only. Their vintage tops and skirts are cheaper at P100 per piece. They also have vintage shoes and men’s apparel on display.

Fruit Punch Slippers at SM Dept. Store

When we went to SM Megamall last night, we checked out the department store and got three nice-looking pairs of flip flops. The brand was Fruit Punch and true to its name, it had some interesting fruit designs on the soles.

What I liked about it though was the style of the slippers itself that looked as if they were sandals. It had this horizontal strap connecting the two straps of the slippers. I bet they’d look good on jeans and even shorts.

For only P99.75 per pair, I think it’s a wise buy.

My Collezione Fashion: Casual but Patriotic

'Twas my first time to buy clothing from Collezione and I'm glad I did. It's a navy blue shirt dress which is part of Collezione's C2 My Pilipinas Collection designed by well-respected fashion designer Rhett Eala. It's a very straight-forward dress and very nationalistic, if I may add, with an embroidered Philippine map on the exact spot where the heart is. Talk about 'patriotic fashion.'

I got it for P899.75. The shirts sell for P699.75 per piece. I opted to get the shirt dress for a change (most of my friends got the shirt) and the fact that I feel more feminine in a dress.

I have only used my shirt dress once during our visit to St. Claire Monastery in Katipunan, Quezon City last Sunday. It fit my body well and I just loved wearing it knowing I got to promote my country in my own little way.

Artistry Launches New Beauty Staples for the Holidays

Last Saturday, I got to attend another beauty workshop by Victor Ortega, Artistry's resident make-up artist. This time, we joined independent business owners (IBOs) in the workshop as the highlight of it was the launch of new beauty staples for the holidays.

Artistry is one of the leading luxury beauty brands in the world. It is locally distributed by Amway Philippines. Victor Ortega was fantastic. Once again, he made our afternoon with his cheerful disposition and impeccable knowledge on make-up application. The workshop's theme, "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholden," was very apt, too. The Yuletide Season is indeed another opportune time to look our best and we're the only ones capable of bringing out our best look for other people to appreciate and love.

My Favorite Beauty Ritual

I'm a self-confessed, low maintenance girl. I seldom wear make-up at work. I only put make up on my face during special occasions or whenever I feel like it (which is very rarely). If there is one favorite beauty ritual I have, it's cleaning my face with St. Yves Invigorating Facial Scrub in the morning, after bath and before I sleep. This sort of beauty secret started way back in college and has proven itself beneficial to me, aesthetically speaking.

I Heart Tomato Accessories

I felt stressed last week due to a heavy workload and so when Edwin and I strolled around Mall of Asia Friday night, I exercised my right as a consumer and splurged on some Tomato accessories. I felt relieved and happy after the purchase. It was therapeutic, so to speak.

Tomato is one of the local fashion brands that are fast-becoming a favorite among customers from the B, C and D brackets. It must be because it has great fashion finds that don't burn a hole in the pocket. Their accessories, for instance, are trendy and fashionable. You won't hesitate wearing Tomato accessories as they look elegant and never run out of style. Just like my latest purchases:

This three-layered, silver and faux pearl combination necklace exudes beauty and elegance to me. I bought it for P250. I fell in love with this one at first sight because of its simplicity and feminine appeal. I had long been looking for a perfect accessory for my black tops and dresses. This necklace is just perfect. Oh and, the faux pearls are actually white and not dirty white as what the photo's trying to show.

These three different pairs of earrings came as a set at the price of P150 or P50 for each pair. It can't be cheaper than that! I like it that the three pairs of earrings can be worn casually. I worn the pair of yellow, star-shaped earrings when I went to SM Megamall last Saturday. It complemented my violet top well. I loved it.

This gold-plated necklace with a round pendant looked cool and unique to me so I bought it. Price was P200. Isn't it a beauty? I imagine it'll look great when matched with a plain-colored top. I think it's a fashion statement in its own right.

Almost all SM Malls have a Tomato shop. The ones I usually visit are Tomato-SM Manila and Tomato-Mall of Asia. The Tomato shop at Mall of Asia has the widest selection of accessories, I believe. You won't go wrong with Tomato accessories. They're really chic and budget-friendly.

True Results Challenge: Erase Fine Lines with Celeteque's Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizer

Their testimonials sounded sincere, too. Make Up 101, An Afternoon with Artistry Make-up Master Victor Ortega

Looking good is every girl's daily obsession. We start by putting make-up on our face to enhance (not alter!) its beauty. I'm not a big fan of make-up and other beauty products just because I'm lazy. Actually, I only apply make-up on my face if I have special events or parties to attend. Other than that, I'm just a powder and lip shine girl.

But it doesn't mean I'd let an opportunity to attend a make-up session pass. Just like last Saturday when I became one of the participants to make-up guru Victor Ortega's Make-Up 101 held at Amway Experience Center on Rada St., Makati. It was organized by Artistry and Geiser Maclang and was attended mostly by fashion and beauty bloggers. Victor Ortega, with his fab make-up arsenal and years of experience as a professional make-up artist, showed us how to look perfect day in and day out, one stroke at a time.

Victor Ortega, a.k.a. Artistry make-up master, was very nice and accommodating, not to mention funny. He taught us the basics in make-up application. He showed us the proper way to apply foundation and how it could be used to contour the face. Yes, you can make your face look slimmer with some dabs of foundation that's a shade darker than your base. He went on by sharing with us everything we needed to know to look perfect, from putting on concealer (to hide skin impurities!) and applying mascara to the eyelashes to putting on lipstick and finishing the look with a blush on. He used Artistry skincare and cosmetic products during the make-up session and proved to us that they were ideal to use on Asian skin. Now, that got me thinking.

Are Artistry skincare and cosmetic products worth the quite hefty price tag? Based on the results of the make-up we did to ourselves using the big make-up kit provided by Artistry itself, I daresay yes. For one, they have great make-up removers and fab eye shadows. I also fell in love with the Artistry mascara. It made my eyelashes appear light and natural, not heavy and enhanced like what other mascaras do to my curls. Good thing we got to take home one Artistry mascara along with a piece of Artistry lip shine, both tucked inside a beautiful silver purse. :)

The entire make-up session lasted for more than two hours but it was worth it. I learned a lot from Victor Ortega. His make-up tips were straightforward and effective. I'll share some of them in my upcoming posts so watch out for that.

Purple is Love, Make It a Part of Your Wardrobe!

I used to hate purple because I thought it would just make me look darker. But recently I changed my mind, having seen it worn by a lot of people including models, celebrities, fashion icons and even bloggers. I experimented on my clothes and learned that purple (and any shades of it) can give you the essential elegance and glamour normally associated with the colors black and white. So, I decided to make purple a part of my wardrobe...for good.

A purple top matches black pants or white shorts while a purple dress goes well with a white cardigan or a yellow blazer. Purple also complements pink and silver items. Actually, the possibilities of incorporating it into your outfit is limitless.

Purple doesn't only have to be present in your clothing. You can buy purple accessories too, such as belts, headbands, earrings and shoes. Remember the purple sandals I bought from Feet na Fit in Tutuban Mall? It matches well with my mall outfit.

P100 Sandals and Slip-ons from Feet na Fit

I went to Divisoria last Friday and chanced upon a stall inside Tutuban Mall (just in front of Broadway Gems) that sells sandals and slip-ons made from a combination of rubber and synthetic leather. Aside from the variety of colors and designs, what struck me the most was the price of the footwears. They're sold at P100 per pair! Isn't it a great deal?

And so, I immediately grabbed a pair of purple sandals (the one I thought was the most appealing among the batch and would fit my feet perfectly!) and bought it. Here are photos of my purple sandals and me wearing my Feet na Fit purple sandals during Globe's HeadShot Clinic at D Zone-Sherwood Place in Malate, Manila held last Saturday:

What can I say? My pair of sandals is very comfortable to use. It's great for malling and long walks. It also fits well. It's flat and the soles are just right, not too soft and not too hard. At first, it was difficult to slip my feet into it because of the tight strap that holds the part just above my heel but I already got the hang of it now. Once you're wearing it, the comfort starts. I love it.

The P1000 Sodexho GC Challenge at SM Department Store

I had P1000 Sodexho Gift Certificates (GCs) to spare so I ended up hitting the SM Department Store at SM Mall of Asia Friday night and used them to my heart's content. Meanwhile, I challenged myself to make the most of it as it's not everyday that I get free GCs (thanks to my sponsor!). And since this is a budget shopping blog, I got more inspired. I called it the P1000 GC Challenge. Without further a do, join me as I scrutinize the items I bought using the P1000 Sodexho GCs:

A Pair of Parisian Shoes. The signature brand of shoes at SM Department Store, Parisian offers shoes that are affordable and of high quality.I chose a pair of pointed pumps to be used in the office. I am wearing it today, actually. Perfect for skirts as the shoes help emphasize your sexy legs.I got this metallic gray pair for only P599.75.

Underwear Set from Gigi Amore. I love Gigi Amore. I really do. Their undies are sexy and cheap. I've been buying them since 2007. I think I have a dozen pairs already. This is the latest addition to that small collection. The price of a pair of underwear (panty and bra set) from Gigi Amore can go anywhere from P179.75 to P249.75. I got this pair for P179.75.

Faux Black Pearl Set from What Women Want (WWW). For only P79.75, this faux set of jewelry, which consists of a choker, a bracelet and a pair of earrings, is a must for women on the go. It's the perfect accessory for everyday business attires. I plan to wear it soon to match a white top. Aren't they cute?

Buy 1, Take 1 Hair Conditioner from Watsons. This I would just like to try for the sake of trying. I thought it's a bargain at P99.00. My rebonded hair needs it to remain straight, sleek and shiny. I hope it doesn't disappoint me, otherwise I won't buy this again. Ever.

Wet Wipes from Watsons. I still had some credits left so I picked this small pack of wet tissues up. It sells at P30.75. This is for hygienic purposes, another way to keep me from the A(H1N1) virus, or so I believe.

Here's the breakdown of the five items I purchased:

As you can see from the breakdown and the receipt above, the grand total of my purchase is P989. I was short by P11 to reach the P1000 mark. That's the sad thing about GCs. You don't get a change so you have to make sure you will be able to use each and every single peso. In my case, I already bought all that I wanted and unfortunately, I didn't see any item that sells at P11. So, I just walked up to the counter and paid. As expected, no change was given. Only points were added to my SM Advantage card.

Mission accomplished. :)

I just bought my own last Saturday afternoon from Babo at Rockwell after attending a challenging Pulse yoga demo. What can I say? I so love my first ever maxi dress. It must have been the print and the simple style that caught my eyes.

For P720, this maxi dress is cheap. I can already visualize myself wearing this on a hot day or during a beach party. A pair of flip flops or flat sandals complements a flowing, maxi dress any time of the day while a bejeweled or high-heeled sandals is a perfect match for the night.

When choosing maxi dresses, look for ones that fall just below your ankles. Keep in mind also that maxi dresses suit every height. It doesn't matter if you're tall or petite so long as the print (usually floral and graphic) complements your complexion well. Greenwich has recently changed its overall service and setting, with Team Manila having given its interiors a makeover. Also, from transacting everything on the counter, they now serve the customer's order to the table for a more personalized service. Good job! Several fashion and beauty bloggers, through the invitation of Lace Llanora of StyleandRelax.net, got to experience this special Greenwich treat in the form of a fabulous tea party.

'Twas an afternoon of bonding, chatter, fun and gastronomic delight over Greenwich food. Their lasagna is still the best in the metro and their Overloaded Extreme Cheese pizzas (in three varieties) are a winner. DJ Andi Manzano would later join us together with the production crew of Qtube. Yes, they covered our party for a future episode in Qtube. How cool is that?

Aside from the usual chikahan, there were some contests that tested our wits and confidence. Earth won the Toughest Fashion Experience Contest and yours truly bagged the Best Pose Award.

Affordable Hair Rebonding at Edwin's Salon and Spa

Last week, I had my hair rebonded for the reason that my recent haircut was a big fail. No, I don't have anything against the hair stylist who did my hair (he was really nice!), it's just that I found the haircut quite hard to maintain. The solution I thought of? Get a hair rebond package. And I did. At Edwin's Salon & Spa on Evangelista Street in Makati City.

Edwin's Salon has been my salon of choice because I like their service. I've been a semi-regular customer for the past two years now. A friend recommended it to me during the time when I was in panic as to what I should do with my very problematic hair.

Hair rebonding, another term for hair straightening widely used in Southeast Asia, is a treatment that involves the use of hair iron and certain chemical relaxers to straighten hair and give it a smooth and sleek appearance. When I got a hair rebond package from Edwin's Salon, I was charged P2,000 (hair rebond + hair spa). I find it very affordable as other salons charge way higher than that. In fact, when I had my short hair checked at a quite popular salon for a possible hair rebond, I got a whopping P4,500 as price estimate. The said amount excluded the hair treatment needed to make sure my hair is smooth and shiny after the rebond. Ouch.

Anyway, the entire hair rebonding process took almost four hours. According to one of the staff, the hair rebond process has recently been shortened due to some development.

Aside from its cheap hair rebonding, Edwin's Salon offers haircut, eye lash extension, body waxing, body tattoo, make-up, manicure and pedicure, various hair treatments (e.g. hair rebonding, hair relax, hair coloring, hot oil, hair spa, cellophane, etc.) and spa treatments (e.g. aromatherapy, foot and hand spa, body scrub, etc.) at friendly prices.

The good thing about this salon is that it accepts payment through credit card. I was broke that time and I only depended on my credit card for survival (okay, I'm exaggerating). But yes, I really paid through credit card because my cash wasn't enough. Convenient, noh?

Also, the staff at Edwin's Salon and Spa are well-trained and friendly and therefore, tip-worthy.

Myra-E Skin Care Products from Unilab: Making For a Simple Beauty Regimen That Works!

Unilab is one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the Philippines. Its brand, Myra-E, is the largest Vitamin E product (capsules) in the market today. Several months ago, Myra-E had started offering skin care products under its label. From facial moisturizers, they now have hand and body lotions and just recently, shine-free face powder.

I started using Myra-E Facial Moisturizer (P70) last year. My face became smooth and the dryness had diminished. I love the scent of this product. It's so mild on the nose, unlike other moisturizers I've tried in the past. It's light and non-greasy, too. You'd never feel as if your face had layers. The fact that it has Vitamin E is a bonus. We all know what good Vitamin E does to the body. We need antioxidants like Vitamin E to fight free radicals, both from interior and exterior sources. My only complaint is that it leaves my face shiny. It must be due to the extra moisture it gives or the natural reaction of my face to the product. I'm still clueless.

When Myra-E launched its facial moisturizer with sunscreen protection (SPF15) priced at P90, I gave it a try. This way, I wouldn't have to apply sunblock anymore. Somehow, the new Myra-E Daily Sun Protect Facial Moisturizer made my simple beauty regimen easier. But as with the first moisturizer, it leaves my skin shiny as well. I hate it when my face is oily. I am anxious about it. Good thing it didn't take a long time before I felt relieved. The problem got solved when Myra-E launched its shine-free face powder.

Myra-E Shine-Free Face Powder (only P130) is the best Myra-E product ever. Just like the other Myra-E skin care products, it has Vitamin E and it's hypo-allergenic and light to the skin. It keeps the shine on my face away. It complements Myra-E facial moisturizer (the one with SPF15) very well.

Nowadays, I don't leave the house without applying these two products on my face. I never felt more confident. They serve as my simple beauty regimen. They're cheap and effective so why would I bother to buy the more popular yet pricey skin care products out there? Well, I guess it's all a matter of choice and principle. If you believe in a certain product, use it, be loyal to it and spread the good news to your friends.

On a related note, I'm not much of a lotion girl (my mom is!) so I don't see myself buying Myra-E hand and body lotion anytime soon. If you're using the product, lemme know if it's good or not.

Trendy Shoes from TSL Fashion

TSL Fashion. I dunno how famous this brand is nor have any idea why I am blogging about it in the first place. All I know is that I bought two new pairs of shoes from the store last weekend for guess what, P150 (around $3) a pair! They had this little “sale” of several pairs of shoes piled in a rack. I noticed it easily upon entry and scanned the rack in no time. The shoes are for temporary use since you really cannot expect them to last that long. But then it could also depend on how one wears them.

The pair below is mine. I always make sure I have a white pair of shoes. White is a universal color so you won’t have difficulty matching it with any outfit. Plus, it has flat heels so you can say I chose this pair for comfort.

The other pair below, on the other hand, went to my sister Nyam. I love the pattern of the shoes. It looks formal and elegant. It’s bronze and can match many outfits, too. It has one inch heels, which is just right for short distance walking. Nyam and I are both size 7 and we switch shoes occasionally. Nice.

Anyway, TSL Fashion is located inside the 50th Avenue (a fashion place) of Robinsons Place-Ermita. It’s on the third level of the mall near the Pedro Gil entrance.

Robinson’s Place Ermita used to be my favorite hang-out during college. It must be due to the fact that it’s just a stone’s throw away from my university on Padre Faura. Over the years, it has transformed into a posh mall with over a hundred brands and labels occupying its precious spaces. And yes, it even has a tiangge section (bazaar) where you can get great fashion deals.

One time I went there, I hopped from one tiangge stall to another while looking for a black scarf for my evening gown (used at work during high-end social events). Before I got what I wanted, here are some of the snapshots I took using my camera phone:

The black scarf I got is dotted with faux crystals. It’s perfect for night parties as the crystals glitter like crazy, which was exactly what I was looking for. You’ll get shocked with the price, though. I bought it for only P100 (around $2). Very cheap, isn’t it? Initially, the vendor said it was P180 (around $4) but I haggled quite hard. Luckily, my haggling skills won over.

I also bought two trendy tops at two for P180 or P90 each. The black one was mine and the pink one went to my sister Nyam.

There is a lot of stuff sold at the tiangge section of Robinson’s Place-Ermita, from clothes and shoes to bags and accessories. They even have bed and bath stuff as well as home decors. Everything is brand new and sold at affordable prices. What more can you ask for?

I daresay it’s an ideal place for budget shopping.

Nichido Bronzing Powder for a Glowing Finish, Day In and Day Out

Nichido is one of the lower-end cosmetic brands here in Manila. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some nice products. Take, for instance, their bronzing powder. Stored neatly in a small container, the bronzing powder does magic to the face. I love that it lasts long, like you can wear it in the morning and the glitter and shine stay the same till after office hours (my personal experience).

I once thought you only use bronzing powder at night but I was wrong. A bronzing powder can be used at day, too. You apply it to your face as you would apply finishing powder. It gives your face the shine it needs to help create a flawless and glowing appearance. With a good foundation (I use foundation occasionally) and a nice bronzing powder like Nichido, you’re good to go anytime of the day.

For just P129.75 at my favorite Watson’s, Nichido bronzing powder is easy on the pocket. Smart buy, isn’t it?

Quality Lip Gloss from Beauty Treats | Complete Lip Gloss Set for P99

Lip glosses make lips shiny and moisturized. But unlike lip sticks, they don't last long. I use lip gloss in the office and reserve lip stick for special occasions. I call it practicality. After all, lip glosses are way cheaper than lip sticks. Presently, I use a complete set of lip gloss (a bit glittery) from Beauty Treats. I've been using some Beauty Treats products since last year when I chanced upon a store that carries this brand during a Bohol vacation with the boyfriend and his family.

For P99, I think my lip gloss set is a steal. It comes in a flat, square box with 12 different glosses (eight colored and four glittery) stored in holes the size of one-peso coin.

I love playing with colors so I combine two different colors from time to time. The results are lips that glow even at daylight. Isn't that fabulous? :)

Elegant Gladiator Shoes only at People are People

I know. I am being biased to People are People. But then, what can I do? I just love the shop. Most of the time, it has everything I want. And the prices are quite affordable considering the quality of their fashion apparels. Just like this pair of gladiator shoes:

I really wanted a pair of gladiator shoes badly so one chilly day at People are People-Rockwell, I bought one for P799. Had I waited several days more, I'm sure the price would've been lower. But it's okay. I love the fact that the one I got is simple yet elegant. I chose gold because it makes my skin appear white (I'm kayumanggi, remember?).

The gladiator shoes at People are People vary in styles, shapes and of course, sizes. I spotted silver, black and bronze for this particular style. If you're looking for a pair of gladiator shoes which you can match with a dress, a pair of skinny jeans, a skirt or short leggings, you might wanna check out the ones at the shop. :)

Back Pack cum Laptop Bag from Clipper

'Twas my first time to set foot at Clipper, a relatively new gift store found in selected malls nationwide. The branch was SM San Lazaro. Actually, I was just killing time perusing through the shelves of the store while waiting for the results of my panoramic x-ray which was a requirement in my appointment to the dentist. I was getting cheap braces then. If not for love at first sight, I don't think I would've bought this funky back pack cum laptop bag.

Basically, the design of the bag is retro-ish. I super dig the multi-colored faces. Somehow, it reminds me of my art lessons in elementary. I like it that the bag is spacious and can hold my 12-incher laptop comfortably. I think that's the edge of this bag over other back packs in the market today.

You can see and feel the durability of the bag. It has several pockets to hold valuables. The laptop pocket inside the bag has a thick platform to protect the gadget and hold it in place. Also, the zippers are huge and the way the bag was stitched together shouts quality. For P499.75, I daresay it is a steal!

Aside from back packs and sling bags, Clipper also sells stationeries, stuffed toys and other stuff that are very ideal as gift items.

Stylish and Affordable Bags from People are People

People are People (PAP) is one of the shops I have been frequenting these days. This is where I find unique items whose price would make your jaws drop. Not because the prices are high but because they are really cheap, and fashionable at that.

Here, take a look at the three bags that I just bought from the boutique recently:

This bag can also be used as pouch by removing the strap. I bought it for P600 at PAP (sale price). Yellow is a lovely color easy to match with any outfit. It is stylish, bright and beautiful. The plastic, black gems used in this bag make it appear elegant and pricey. Nice.

For the price of P600, also at PAP, this purse is a steal. I bought this impulsively because I thought I'd need this in responding to future wedding invitations and holiday parties. I think it's sophisticated when paired with a nice cocktail or formal dress. What do yah think?

I bought this one for P200 (marked down price)at PAP. It's nice to use when going out on gimmicks. I bring a lot of kikay stuff with me whenever I go out so this bag gets to serve its purpose well.I love the front design because I think it's what makes it trendy and all.

When buying bags, don't compromise on quality. If you have money to spare, invest in bags that are durable and functional. If you could find bags that are cheap and heavy duty at the same time, the better. :)
